Will I be able to get a refund if I change my mind?
Courses purchased more than 14 days before the course start date
- We'll be happy to refund your fees, provided we receive your refund request at least 14 days before your course start date.
Courses purchased less than 14 days before the course start date
- If you purchase your course online, via our website less than 14 days before the course start date, your purchase is protected by the Consumer Contract Regulations (for online purchases) meaning you are entitled to request a monetary refund at any point leading up to the course start date.
- If you purchased your course over the phone or in-person, less than 14 days before the course start date you are entitled to request a store credit
- For a small number of courses (generally our longer or accredited courses) we’ll need more notice. For these courses you’ll need to make your request at least three weeks (21 calendar days) before your course is due to start. If this applies to your course we’ll make it clear to you in the course outline and at interview, if one is required for your course.
How do I request a refund?

When and how will I receive my refund?
Is your refund request is in policy and did you pay all your fees with one bank card?
By requesting your refund through your customer account your request will be processed within 5 to 10 working days.
By emailing the refunds team this request will take up to 3 weeks to process. The money will return onto the same card that you paid with and you will receive an email as confirmation of your refund.
If you paid via BACS, we will refund you by BACS payment. You will need to complete a form which we will send to you after you have requested the refund. Refund via BACS can take up to 21 days.
Is your request is in policy and you paid in cash, set up an instalment plan or were awarded a bursary or grant for part of your course fees?
The Enrolment Team will process your refund within 4 weeks. If you paid by cash, cheque or BACS, we will refund you by BACS payment. You will need to complete a form which we will send to you after you have requested the refund. Refund via BACS can take up to 21 days.
If you have been awarded and bursary or grant, this money cannot be refunded to you.
If your request falls outside of the policy, we may still be able to offer you full or partial City Lit Credit and there are some circumstances (for example if the reason you cannot attend is covered by the Disability Discrimination Act) where you may still be eligible for a refund. The Enrolment team will consider all requests individually and will get back to you within 4 weeks.
What if my course is cancelled?
We'll prioritise your refund so that you don't need to wait for your money back. If you paid all your fees upfront by card your refund will be processed within 5 to 10 working days.
If you paid for your course with an instalment plan or were awarded a bursary or grant for part of your course fees our Information and Bookings Team will process your refund within 5 to 10 working days.
If you paid by cash, cheque or BACS, we will refund you by BACS payment. You will need to complete a form which we will send to you after you have requested the refund. Refund via BACS can take up to 21 days.
We regret that we cannot accept liability for an inability to provide courses where these are affected by circumstances beyond our reasonable control, for example, industrial action, public transport disruptions or severe weather.
