Go to www.google.com and click on the Sign in button in the top right corner of the screen.
*Please note, if you already have a Google email / personal account you may see a letter and not the sign in button. If this is the case, click on the icon and then click on the Add account button.
The City Lit automatically creates a student Google Account for you, this will be your Student Account, which you will NEED in order to gain access to Google Classroom.
In the ‘email or phone’ box enter your student number followed by @student.citylit.ac.uk - example: firstname.lastname@example.org
Click next, and then enter your password.
Password for new City Lit students since 1st September
If you signed up to your course after 1st September, your new G Suite password is made up from your date of birth in this format: two numbers for day, first three letters for month starting with an upper case letter, and the year in full: 01Jan1986
Password for enrolments before 1st September
If you used your G Suite/Google account last academic year, or enrolled on your 20/21 course before 1st September, your default password will be your date of birth, but you may have updated it to something more personal.

You should now be signed in.
Click on the nine little squares in the top right of the screen. This will open up a new mini menu, click on the icon labelled Classroom.
Click on the little plus icon in the top right of the screen.
This will open up another small window where you will enter your Class Code, which your tutor will have given you. For online courses, you may receive the Class Code in an email. The Class Code is 7 digits long, a mix of lower case letters and numbers.
You should now be inside Google Classroom. There are three main parts to Google Classroom: Stream, Classwork & People. For more information about these please see the page What is Google Classroom?
If you are attending multiple courses with Google Classroom you will see a tile for each. Click on the class title to access the Classroom.
