This step by step video will show you how to log into Google Classroom via Office.com.
This step by step video also has BSL interpreting.
Step One
Go to www.office.com and then click on the ‘Sign in’ button
Step Two
In the Microsoft Sign in window, enter your City Lit student account details
This will be your student reference number followed by ‘@student.citylit.ac.uk’
You write it like this: 123466@student.citylit.ac.uk
Then click ‘Next’ when done
Step Three
Enter your account password and click ‘Sign In’
Your password is your date of birth in the format (ddMmmyyyy – e.g. 01Jan2000) – the first character in the month is a capital.
You can reset your own password by clicking ‘Forgot my password’.
A password recovery email will be sent to your personal email address - the one that you used when signing up for your course
Step Four
You may be asked if you wish to stay signed in
If you click ‘Yes’ then your browser will store your information and keep you signed in - this means you do not need to enter your email and password each time that you visit the page
Step Five
Click on the nine small dots in the top left of the screen to see a list of available apps in a white side panel
Step Six
Click on the blue text that says ‘All apps’
Scroll down to the bottom of the list and click on the Google Classroom icon
Step Seven
You are now inside Google Classroom
If you are new, this screen will be empty
Click on the plus icon in the top right of the screen to join your first class
Step Eight
In the middle box, enter the Class Code for your course
This will usually be emailed to you by City Lit before your course starts, or sometimes by your teacher
Once you have entered the code, click on ‘Join’ in top right of the screen to complete the process
Note: You will only need to join the class once - on future visits your course will appear on the screen from step seven
If you have any issues following the steps in the video or written guide, you can get in touch with the Digital Learning Team at digital.learning@citylit.ac.uk
