We try to support as many students as possible but support cannot be guaranteed.
Please watch this video for more information about the Access, Inclusion a& Support Team (AIS).
We can provide the following support:
- In-class support - Communication Support Workers (CSWs) and Notetakers (online and in the classroom)
- BSL or SSE support
- Online or face to face courses
- Course advice
- Information in BSL, SSE or English
To apply for CSW or notetaking support, please contact us at least 3-4 weeks before the course starts. We can book a video call to discuss your access and support needs. If a similar course is provided as part of the programme for Deaf learners, we will not be able to provide communication support.
We can provide the following support:
- Phonak Roger pen radio aids (in the classroom)
- Special arrangements for exams: e.g. communication support and extra time.
- Deaf awareness information for your tutor
- Captioning for online courses
- Online or face to face courses
- Course advice
- Information in BSL, SSE or English
To apply for use of a radio aids please contact us and we will book the equipment for you.
If you have not used a radio aid before we can arrange an appointment for you to try one.

IAG and enrolment support for Deaf students
IAG sessions with BSL interpreters to help Deaf students enrol onto courses and apply for financial support take place in Room 1 in the Student Centre and Library from 2pm to 4pm.
Come at 2pm. The last enrolment will finish at 4pm.

If you are Deaf and cannot come to any of these sessions, please email advice@citylit.ac.uk to arrange an individual appointment (the times and dates we can offer will depend on staff and interpreter availability, but we will do our best to arrange a time suitable for you).

DeafPLUS can support you with:
